Save It
by Craig Castleberry
Scripture: Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready. 8Fine linen, bright and clean, was given her to wear." (Fine linen stands for the righteous acts of the saints.) Revelation 19: 7 & 8
Theme: True Love Waits, Abstinence. This skit is intended not to directly dive into the subject of abstinence, but will draw a parallel which will launch questions for study.
Scene: A student is sitting at a desk with a laptop or a monitor with a keyboard. A friend walks in and begins a conversation.
Student: This is taking forever!
Friend: You are still not done? That report must have taken you hours!
Student: Try days.
Friend: Guess you are ready for a break.
Student: I am SO ready.
Friend: Great! Just save it and we will get something to eat.
Student: Nah. It will be all right.
Friend: What? All that work and all of those days and you are not going to save it?
Student: It's just too much trouble.
Friend: Well, maybe so, but isn't it worth it?
Student: I suppose, but there are things that are so much fun that can't wait. I don't have time to save it!
Friend: But, you are so close. If you save it now, you will be glad you did. Then all those days will be protected and be ready for the big day!
Student: You know, you are right. I had a friend who didn't save it and she left and just forgot about it.
Friend: What happened?
Student: She had a blast! (Laughing to herself)
Friend: [Preparing to say "I told you so" or "A hah!" with her finger pointing, but resisted after hearing her answer and backs down)
Student: That's not all, though. When she got back, the power had gone out and all she had worked on for days and days, even months, it was all gone.
Friend: I just don't want that to happen to you. I am sure there are a ton of guys out there, even people who call themselves friends, who would try to talk you into a good fast time. They don't care if you save anything. They just care about what they can get for themselves at that moment.
Student: The girl could never recover what she had saved. It was all lost. She tried working on it and trying to fix it, but it was never the same.
Friend: And you know what else? The people who saw what she saved before knew it was not the same when she saved it a second time. She was only saving the second time.
Student: Yes, and the big day, when it was supposed to be turned in, it was known by all that it wasn't the very best she had to offer. The very best was gone.
Friend: Don't get me wrong, people still loved her and forgave her, but the time she chose not to save was a day that would never ever leave her memory or her heart.
Student: Thanks for stopping me and being a good friend. If only more people knew how important it is to save, the big day would be so much better.
Friend: I am always glad to be your friend. Are you ready?
Student: In a minute. First let me save this and then we can go!
Friend: [Bending over her shoulders and looking at the screen] Biology?
Student: Yep!
Friend: That figures!
The End
Bible Study
Name some things that are worth saving: Another life, your life, money, homework on your computer, a friend's phone number or email address.
If a friend had not stepped in, would the student have saved everything?
How important is it to you to save yourself for your future spouse.
If God has someone special waiting for you, will what you do now affect that person you will love one day?
Will you let someone today take that away from them?
When the computer lost power, what would you compare that to? Possibly leaving the power of God behind. In Him we can find the strength and boldness to be strong and save ourselves for our wedding day.
