Mission Possible
By Dawn E. Hurt
Scripture: O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water. Psalm 63:1
Theme: Seeking God
Narrator-
heard but not seenEthan- the spy
Heather- the valley girl
Buddy- the invisible dog walker
The God squad- three kids who know their bible
Ethan: (Enters alone on stage wearing a trench coat and hat low. He slowly walks around to the beginning of the mission impossible theme song looking to make sure no one is watching. He takes out a recorder and begins to listen.)
Narrator: Music stops (voice on recording) Ethan, your mission…should you choose to accept it is … to seek God! (Long pause) This message will self-destruct in 10 seconds. (Long pause) 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, …Hchooo (sneeze)
Ethan: Bless you!
Narrator: Thanks! (Continuing) 5, 4, 3…
Ethan: (Turns off recorder and puts it back in his pocket and talks to himself.) Now…where am I going to find God? (Starts to look around under chairs up in the sky….wherever...)
(Enter Heather talking on her cell phone)
Heather: (In valley girl style) …and he was like totally wow! No! No! No WAY! Hold on… (To Ethan) Are you like lost?
Ethan: (Cautiously) Do you know where I can find God?
Heather: (Back to the phone) I gotta go Trixie…this guy is totally lost! Later! (To Ethan) Well… I can sure help you look. I have never seen him myself but you hear a lot of people say he’s in the trees and sky.
Heather & Ethan: (at the same time) the park!
Heather: That’s like so scary. We like totally think alike!
Ethan: (aside to the audience) That is scary! Well what are we waiting for… to the park!
(Music starts again. They exit stage right and Buddy enters stage left being "dragged" by his invisible "dogs".)
Buddy: (Pulling for all his might) Slow down boys. We’re here. Pick your spots and let’s get going. (Starts whistling while the invisible "dogs" do their thing.)
(Enter Ethan and Heather. Heather is walking behind Ethan "hiding" behind him.)
Ethan: (softly and looking around) Hey…. You Buddy.
Buddy: (Turns around quickly.) Do I know you?
Ethan: No.
Buddy: Then how did you know my name?
Ethan: (confused) I don’t know your name… Listen Buddy… we’re looking for God. Have you seen Him around here?
Buddy: I’d be happy to help… (Hands several "leashes" to Ethan and Heather) Hold these while I get out my map of the park. (Buddy pulls out a map from his pocket and the three of them begin to look at the map.) (Ethan and Heather drop the "leashes" and the "dogs" run away but no one notices.)
Ethan: (To Heather) Are you sure He’s here in the park?
Heather: Like… I don’t know?
(Enter the God Squad)
Buddy: I don’t see His place anywhere on the map. Are you sure God lives here?
Ethan: I think I’m hopelessly lost. Were is He?
GS1: Can we help?
Heather: Do you guys like…know where we can find God?
GS2: Sure (holding up Bible) He’s right here!
Ethan: Where?
GS3: In the Bible. He gave us all of his instructions here in the Bible. And He lives in all of us. (Gesturing to the GS)
Buddy: Whoah!
Heather: That’s like Wow!
Ethan: I think you’re going to have to explain…
GS1: Why don’t you guys come with us? We’re headed to Bible study.
GS2: I think you will find what you are looking for…
Ethan: (To Heather and Buddy) Well… what do you think?
Buddy: Sounds interesting, but I need to get the dogs back. (Realizing they are gone) OH NO! The dogs! There gone!
Ethan: (To the GS) Care to give us a hand?
GS1, 2 &3: Sure!
(Music starts again as they all run off stage calling for the dogs.)

Study Questions
Have you ever looked for God in the wrong places?
Just like in this skit, there are some people who feel God is just found in nature. How could you prove them wrong?
Has your own relationship with God been strong enough to prove He exists?
Should we have enough proof every day?
