BLINDFOLDED
by Craig Castleberry
Theme: Trust / Seeking God
Scripture: The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is majestic. Psalm 29:4
Props: A blindfold.
Opening Scene: (Dawn and Danny appear on stage and Dawn has a blindfold in her hand. As they walk on stage, they can be having a conversation Whispering until they get to center stage.)
Danny: But, I don't WANT to wear a blindfold!
Dawn: Oh come on, it will be fun!
Danny: Yeah, for you maybe. What about the guy stumbling around with a blindfold? Mainly, me!
Dawn: I promise it won't Hurt!
Danny: You promise?
Dawn: I promise! (Dawn takes the blindfold and covers his eyes)
Danny: Hey, not so tight, you're going to make me sneeze!
Dawn: What?
Danny: Never mind.
Dawn: O.K., you are ready to go.
Danny: (Laughing) Go where?
Dawn: Anywhere.
Danny: But, I don't want to go anywhere, not with this blindfold on.
Dawn: (Moving over to the corner of the stage…You pick the corner) See me now?
Danny: Funny. But, I do hear you.
Dawn: Can you hear me, now? Good.
Danny: (Moves toward her voice, his hands extended forward so as not to bump into anything.) Keep talking.
Dawn: (Moving to another corner) You are doing well.
Danny: Yeah, well you are next!
Dawn: "Trust in the Lord..."
Danny: (Moving toward her voice again) Yes?
Dawn: "With all your heart…"
Danny: Sounds familiar…
Dawn: "And lean NOT on your own understanding."
Danny: Very familiar…
Dawn: "In all your way acknowledge Him…"
Danny: (Almost standing right in front of her and removes his blindfold) "And He will direct your path…or make it straight." You know, with the blindfold on, all I could do was follow your voice.
Dawn: Pretty good, huh? And there was nothing you could see to distract you. That kept you from leaning on your own understanding.
Danny: That's true, that Proverb says to trust with your heart and all of it! It says nothing about eyes or noses. Hey do you smell that?
Dawn: Smell what?
Danny: COOKIES! (He runs off stage)
Dawn: (Yelling toward the direction he exits) There are no cookies in the Bible and HEY... they are not ready yet! (Then she runs off stage in the same direction.)
